The belt tensioner keeps the V-ribbed belt constantly under the correct tension. If the damper is worn, the V-ribbed belt is no longer tensioned properly and belt slip occurs on the G-loader. This means that the full boost pressure is no longer available and there is a loss of power and the V-ribbed belt wears out more quickly.
